Buzz off!

It’s early June, summer has just begun and the bugs are eating you alive. Luckily you’ve brought your tarp and mesh room combo to keep yourself and your fellow campers safely away from the bugs. Big enough to fit up to 8 people comfortably (more if you want to squish), this tarp bug net combo has become a key item on early season trips.

Quite a few times I’ve been on trips with this tarp, we’ve cooked under it, and hung out afterwards under it because the bugs outside were so bad you couldn’t take a breath without a mouthful of mosquitoes. Many times we ask ourselves how the heck we did this without the bug net! Now that I’ve been spoiled by the bug free luxury of the Eureka tarp, I don’t want to trip without it. I strongly recommend these items for anyone who goes on a trip early in the season when the bugs are at their worst.

One of the features that I like the most about this set is that the tarp and bug net are detachable. If you wish to only set up the tarp, go for it! You suddenly realize the bugs are getting bad so you attach the bug net with a few easy to use clips. Keep in mind that if you set up the tarp too high then the bottom of the tarp won’t reach the ground and the bugs can get in from the bottom. That being said set up the tarp too low and the two zipper doors will be a pain to operate.  Once you find the Goldilocks height it gets easier to set up with each use. By the end of your trip you’ll be a pro at setting up the bug net and everyone will worship you for bringing them out of the wrath of the bugs.

On the Eureka website there is a very comprehensible tutorial on how to set up the tarp. I strongly recommend watching this video before your trip if you have never used this tarp before. Luckily the first few times I used it there was someone on my trip that had used it before and they were able to give me some tips and tricks on how to set up the tarp and bug net system properly. While on the website you can also check out the smaller version of this system that fits 2 to 4 people comfortably. If black flies and mosquitoes test your sanity on trip, I strongly recommend trying out the tarp and bug room combo. Camping bug free has never been easier!
